Membership Application

A Membership Application is for individuals who are not currently members of Adams Rural Electric Cooperative and are requesting electric service at a location that is already connected to the Cooperative's electric system. Because Adams Rural Electric Cooperative is a member-owned organization, anyone receiving electric service must first establish membership before service can be provided.

Service Application

A Service Application is for current Adams Rural Electric Cooperative members who need to make changes to their existing electric account. This application is used to request a transfer of service to another location, reconnect an existing service, or request an additional electric service.

Application for a New Residential Service

An Application for a New Residential Service is for individuals requesting electric service at a location where electric service has never been installed. This includes members building a new home or establishing service on a newly developed property.

Submitting this application begins the process of designing and installing the electrical facilities needed to serve your property. After the application is received, an Adams Rural Electric Cooperative Staking Engineer will review the project and provide information regarding service requirements, easements, inspections, construction costs, and the steps that must be completed before electric service can be connected.

Electrical Inspection Requirement

Before Adams Rural Electric Cooperative can connect and energize either a new or existing electric service, an electrical inspection must be completed by a certified electrical inspector. Documentation verifying the successful inspection must be provided to the Cooperative before service can be energized.

If a member chooses not to have an electrical inspection completed, they may sign the "Member Attestation if No Inspection is Completed" section of the inspection form. By signing this attestation, the member acknowledges and certifies that they are solely responsible for the condition, safety, and code compliance of all wiring, equipment, and electrical installations on the property. The member also assumes all risks associated with energizing the electrical service without an inspection.

Adams Rural Electric Cooperative strongly recommends obtaining an electrical inspection to help ensure the safety and compliance of your electrical installation.

Ohio Manufactured Home Inspection Requirement

If you are requesting electric service for a new or relocated manufactured (mobile) home in Ohio, the home must meet the State of Ohio's inspection requirements before Adams Rural Electric Cooperative can connect permanent electric service.

Ohio law requires all new and relocated manufactured homes to be inspected and approved by a State of Ohio-certified manufactured home inspector. After the home successfully passes all required inspections, an inspection seal and electrical approval will be issued, authorizing occupancy and the connection of permanent electric service.

To avoid delays in establishing your electric service, please ensure all required state inspections have been completed and approved before requesting your final service connection. Adams Rural Electric Cooperative cannot energize a manufactured home until the required inspection approvals have been received.

Right-of-Way Easements for New Services

For all new electric services, a right-of-way easement is required to allow the Cooperative access to install, operate, maintain, and repair electric facilities on the property. This easement ensures safe and reliable service delivery and is required before construction and energizing can occur. The Cooperative will prepare and record the easement in the county where the property is located. In accordance with state requirements, if the property owner is married, both spouses are required to sign the easement agreement, even if only one spouse is listed on the deed.

Specification Sheets

The specification sheets outline the required construction standards that the member must follow when preparing for a new electric service installation. These sheets detail the member’s responsibilities for site readiness, including meter base requirements, service entrance equipment, grounding, trenching, and any other applicable construction guidelines. Following these specifications ensures the installation meets Cooperative standards, safety codes, and inspection requirements and helps prevent delays in energizing service.
