High School Sophomores & Juniors
Purpose:
Adams Rural Electric Cooperative will sponsor one student from our membership for the annual Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C in June. The selected winner can learn about our nation’s Capital, the government and rural electric cooperatives while seeing the historic sights of Washington D.C. Many of the tours are VIP to areas not available to the public. This is an opportunity for students to make life-long friendships with other students from across the United States.
This is an all-expenses paid trip for the selected student coordinated by Ohio Electric Cooperative and Adams Rural Electric Cooperative. For safety concerns, a registered nurse, doctor, and dentist are on call at the hotel at all times.
Requirements:
To be eligible to compete for the Ohio Youth Tour, the following will determine the acceptance of the application:
- Applicant must be the child of an Adams Rural Electric Cooperative member.
- Applicant must be a High School Sophomore or Junior at the time of the application due date.
- Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will be ineligible.
- Participants will need to watch the cooperative knowledge video at www.ohioec.org/orientation and complete the attached test about Cooperative Knowledge.
- Personal interviews for selected candidates will be held at Adams Rural Electric.
- Recipient should be available with no other obligations from June 14 – 20, 2026
- Recipient must be willing to write an article for the Ohio Cooperative Living magazine and give a presentation to the Board of Trustees following the trip.
